Nihiwatu Resort's location is extremely isolated and it's this solitude that you'll find to be one of the highlights. The location is secluded, private, and of outstanding natural beauty. There are only 9 rooms so this sense of exclusivitymeans you can enjoy peace, relaxation, and time for reflection. It's a true getaway.

The rooms are basic, spacious, and private. They are not ultra-luxurious but they are very comfortable, Every room is screened and air-conditioned. The resort fogs for mosquitos weekly. Subsequently, malaria in these parts is possible though very rare. There's a pool, spa, and water sports center. Dining is excellent with a first class Indonesian chef preparing tasty local cuisines with a broad range of vegetarian options. The classic bar sits on the hillside with sweeping views of the coastline, surf, and surrounding countryside. Sunset drinks here are a daily highlight... the kind of place you could sit all day long and take in the majesty of it all. Local staff offer excellent service and are exceedingly friendly and helpful... one of the highlights of any stay.
Nihiwatu is a unique location. You've probably never been anywhere quite like it.

The location is beautiful, remote and showcases a fascinating local culture. Sitting at the spectacular, hill-side bar and restaurant watching perfect waves peel off un-ridden is a sight to behold. Nihiwatu is a special place. There's just something about it.

Tropicsurf exclusively books the surfer allotment at the camp once a year. We hope you can join us there for a week of surfing, learning, adventure and a uniquely, relaxing holiday.

The Nihiwatu left is often a demanding wave. It's a fast and powerful left with a quick, shallow end section - suited to intermediate or advanced surfers.

Having said that, the actual degree of difficulty does depend on variables such as swell size, moon phase, swell direction and tides. During peak season, powerful, double-overhead swells are common.

However Tropicsurf traditionally books a late-season week that maximizes our chance of more manageable shoulder-high to overhead surf. Nihiwatu has exclusive rights to this break so it’s fair to expect there will be no other surfers in the lineup (other than the occasional surf by the one or two Nihiwatu staff.)

The empty waves are one of the main attractions. There are some other rights accessible by boat. Additional fees apply.

This is not a trip for beginners. Surfers should be confident and experienced. If the swell does get too large, there may be smaller spots that can be accessed by boat at additional charges.

However Tropicsurf has carefully chosen this particular date for our annual trip because this is a late-season week when one could reasonably expect conditions that will make the wave a little smaller and easier than normal, thereby appealing to a wider range of surfing abilities.

Longboarders have been here and loved it, as recently featured in Longbreak Magazine.

Tropicsurf delivers the world's best surfing holidays... with an emphasis on service, luxury, water safety and improvement. Regardless of age or ability, with Tropicsurf everyone can enjoy surfing's ultimate thrills in style, comfort and safety. Our obvious starting point is to put you into primo surf. And our preference will always be towards un-crowded breaks. But a 5-star vacation should be more than just quality surf. Over the years we've developed what we term 'Tropicsurf Style' - distinguishing features that make every Tropicsurf trip distinctive. Luxury. Safety. Expert guidance. Coaching. Alternative activities. Consideration of companions. Service.

Additionally your wave riding can become more fruitful through our style or technique advice. We've been professionally coaching since '91 and have helped total novices through to world champions achieve their dreams. Our skill progressions are sophisticated and you can learn and improve as much as you want to. Many guests actually ride the best wave of their life with TS and open new world's of opportunity.

It's this coaching background that also allows us to accurately match break with ability, facilitate safety and allow all abilities to succeed. This is a crucial point of difference in favour of the Tropicsurf experience.

We've also paid attention to the un-thinkable ... no surf, by planning a range of stimulating alternatives to keep you active and broaden your experience base. These can be enjoyed at any time.

We've considered everything to offer a range of outstanding boat and land-based holidays that can be tailored to ensure your holiday with us is the best.
